Starting this week Deep AI is providing automated AWS AMI builds of the open-source deep learning server Deepdetect (http://www.deepdetect.com/). The AMI is bundling Deepdetect with a set of state-of-the art deep learning models ready to be used for common tasks such as e.g. gender detection. The AMI also comprises a directly usable web frontend to […]
In paralell to MSRA’s release of their winning architecture of the ILSVRC 2015 researchers from Google have released a substantial improvement of their inception architecture (their winning model of ILSVRC 2014, improved in Feb 2015 by the introduction of batch normalization). The improved architecture is called inception v3 and is on par with MSRA’s winning architecture […]
Using very deep convolutional neural nets with relatively low complexity together with region proposal networks (Faster RCNN) MSRA wins both Imagenet Detection and Localization Challenges 2015 and MS COCO Detection Challenge 2015 (ILSVRC 2015, MS COCO 2015). By inserting shortcut connections it is becoming feasible to learn extremely deep networks (up to 152 layers) succesfully and […]
Google open-sources their internal software library for data flow graphs (and successor to their DistBelief framework): http://tensorflow.org/. The library is developed in C++ (low-level execution of graph) and Python (assembling of graph). For the moment it does not allow scaling to more than one server.
Gartner on top 10 strategic technology trends 2016: Advanced machine learning and deep learning has been identified by Gartner as one of the top 10 strategic technology trends in 2016. But maybe even more importantly advanced machine learning such as deep learning is at the confluence of other cited strategic technology trends such as “Autonomous […]
